ABOUT THE FRIENDS
What Area Do We Cover?
The Lizard Peninsula, as we see it, is everything within the parishes which traditionally form part of the Peninsula, and that is the area which we seek to protect. But members can be based anywhere - we have many who are visitors to the area and who live in London, Cardiff, Birmingham and elsewhere.
What Does "Kowethas An Lysardh" Actually Mean?
"Kowethas" is Cornish for "association, or society", or "Friends Of ....". "Lysardh" means lizard, of course! Our logo incorporates the lizard which has been our emblem since we were formed, but now includes a stylised outline of the Lizard Peninsula, all in a banner or battle-standard to demonstrate our strength and determination.
How Do We Keep In Touch?
Roughly every two months we send out a Newsletter, which tells our members about action we have taken or will be taking. We will be organising regular get-togethers, sometimes just to socialise as Friends and sometimes to see presentations from various organisations which have responsibility for the government and development of The Lizard, or from our own members. Stories and letters appear regularly in the local media.
